Microids has officially announced Syberia Remastered, a comprehensive modernization of the beloved 2002 point-and-click adventure game created by the late Benoît Sokal.
Set for release in late 2025, this remaster aims to introduce a new generation to the poetic and mysterious journey of Kate Walker, while offering longtime fans a revitalized experience that honors the original’s legacy.
A Modern Take on a Timeless Tale
Developed collaboratively by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, Syberia Remastered promises a complete graphical overhaul, enhancing environments, characters, and animations to meet today’s technical standards.
The game’s intricate mechanical puzzles have been redesigned for a smoother, more intuitive experience, and the user interface has been updated to provide improved 3D navigation and fluid controls—all while preserving the game’s contemplative and narrative essence.
Players will once again follow Kate Walker, a New York lawyer, as she embarks on an unexpected journey across Europe in pursuit of the elusive inventor Hans Voralberg. Along the way, she encounters memorable characters and explores melancholy, mysterious settings that have captivated players for over two decades.
Stepping into Virtual Reality
In addition to the remastered version, Microids has revealed plans for an exclusive virtual reality adaptation of Syberia, designed specifically for Meta Quest 3. This VR experience aims to immerse players fully in Sokal’s unique universe, allowing them to explore the game’s iconic environments like never before.
Conceived from the outset as a standalone experience, the VR version will offer a fresh narrative approach while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original work.
Honoring Benoît Sokal’s Legacy
Elliot Grassiano, founder of Microids, emphasized the company’s commitment to preserving Sokal’s artistic vision:
“Syberia is much more than a game – it’s an initiatory journey, an unforgettable sensory and emotional experience. With this remaster, we want a new generation to rediscover this adventure, while offering historical fans a sublimated version respectful of Benoît Sokal’s legacy.”
Syberia Remastered is scheduled for release in late 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The Meta Quest 3 VR version will launch simultaneously.
