Mining is one of the main activities in EVE Online, even though it is not necessarily for everyone. Only those with strong inclination towards industrialist type of gameplay in this amazing, dog-eats-dog MMORPG are willing to partake in it. It can be tedious, uneventful, even despised by the “real” EVE Online players that will gladly give their best trying to suicide-gank unsuspecting miners in random asteroid belts, even in the High security sector.
Best mining fleet setup for 2019 in EVE Online
Mining has changed a lot throughout the passing years. New ships and features have been introduced, moon mining is now a common thing, and possibilities for players both in High and Low Sec space have been dramatically increased. Simultaneously there were also nerf and ship changes, so that what worked yesterday no longer actually performs well today.
The hero mining ship for years was the Hulk, the legendary Exhumer with an amazing yield, fairly strong on all sides. But after the nerfs that is no longer the case, and now the Hulk remains as -seemingly – only viable in areas where it is well protected, such as Null Sec space that is well secured by the alliance holding it.
Currently, the best setup for High Sec mining seems to be an Orca with a fleet of Skiffs. Your primary concern are the suicide-gankers, so make sure that your Skiff is as protected as much as possible. Do not, under any circumstances, use cargo hold expanding rigs, since they reduce your HP. Jettison your cans and micro-manage the ore that is being filled. It is better to lose 5-7 millions of ore from a flipped can than to lose your Exhumer. High Sec does not guarantee you safety. Align your ships toward a station or a safe spot and be prepared to warp out when necessary.
